John Victor Shaxted, my father, was the man who did most of the work of tracing the family tree.

John was born in Nutfield near Redhill in Surrey. In 1925 he moved, with his parents, to "Little Lyndsays" Fryerning, Near Ingatestone in Essex where his father, Ernest John, had been appointed gardener. He attended the boys elementary school in Ingatestone until 1931. In 1931 he moved to King Edward VI Grammar School in Chelmsford, Essex where he stayed until 1936. After leaving school he started work at a bank in the city of London, believed to be an Austrian bank - Signer Freidlander in Canon Street.
